Mt Richardson

Mt Richardson

When I woke up and realized to day I was going to walk Mt Richardson my heart started raising. I got ready and we drove to school. Then me and my friends got on the bus and drove to the Mt Richardson. Also this boy called Josh came with as. When we got there we began to do the walk it was hard at the start but it got easier as we got to the top. Me and my friends made this idea up because there was a big gap between the front and the back. So when we want to the back we ran down hill to the front. We stoped and waited for back to catch up it was a Lote of fun. Josh did it to. Then we got to the bus and and went home.

Lake Daniels

Lake Daniels

On Thursday the 18th of August I arrived at school. I was wondering what was going to happen on the Journey ahead. We got into 2 groups to go in the vans.
On the way there we stopped at a playground to stretch our legs, we then left to do the walk.
When we got there we had lunch and the other school that was going to walk with as arrived.  We were split up into 2 groups in alphabetical order, sadly I didn’t get to go with Jack, Hugh or Lachlan, but I hung out with other people from the other school.
After that we began the long walk to the hut. After 5 minutes we were starting to feel the pain. We were all getting so tired and were relieved to see the hut getting closer and closer.
When I got there I immediately went to the wharf. After that it got dark really quickly so we ate some pancakes and went to bed. Jack, Lachlan, Hugh and I got all our good food and ate all of it.
In the morning we ate breakfast, I had cream rice and fruit salad. Jack, Lachlan and I all decided that we were going to jump in the freezing cold water by the wharf at Lake Daniels.
After that we headed off to go back to the vans. Mr Priddy was nice enough to let myself, Hugh, Jack and Lachlan run the whole way back

High Ropes

High Ropes
On Friday the 3rd all the year 8s went to the Groynes in Christchurch. High ropes is one of the activities in the WPCA challenge
When we pulled into the Groynes we had a bit of trouble trying to fund the High ropes course area. We drove in. Pip Bartlett ended up going right past the turn off. When we got to the roundabout we turned around and eventually found the entrance.we played some team work games and it was a lot of fun. Soon after we got on ar gear and began adventure. My favorite activity was the leaders and the flying kiwi but the flying kiwi was the most fun. For the flying kiwi we had to line up in a row and all hold a rope which was attached to the person who was going to do the flying kiwi. Eventually it was my turn to go on it. when they said “fly kiwi fly” we had to run. when I run they run the opposite direction it lifted me up in the air
My breath was sucked out of my lungs from the Harris, I flew up and round and round. Gravity no longer existed. I hang there and took a moment to take all of the awesomeness in I was invincible! Now one could
The air blew on my face as I was lowered slowly to the ground. I stood there, standing on solid ground. The flying kiwi by far was the highlight of my day!!!

Rakahuri Rage

On Sunday  March 12th  rakahuri Rage  began. It was at The rangiora racetrack and a part of the Ashley River tracks. It was a very  hot and sunny day and i was already sweating and i hadn't even started . My team consisted of Lachlan, Jack and  I. When the race started everyone was doing a countdown, THREE…. TWO….  ONE ! and they were off!
Jack was off first then Lachlan second then me third. Jack had to do an extra two km at the start for an unknown reason, he was back in 25 minutes or so. Then lachlan went. Jack  was telling me about this exhilarating feeling of getting so much air over this jump and he made me want to do it so bad i couldn't wait much longer. Finally Lachlan got back. Then he touched my hand I took off. I was focused on doing that jump.
I flew  across the paddock  which was heading to the trees. I was going so fast that I didn't see the dip in the track, my front wheel went straight into it and the seat went straight into my crutch. Ouch! I scurried on, the pain shot through my body. Then I saw  it, the jump! I slowly picked up more and more speed and I launch myself over the jump
And when I hit the jump it felt like I was in slow motion. While I was flying through the air the bars started to twist and disaster struck as I nose dived into the hard rocky ground. Down came the bike, landing on  my body, crushing by face while I was skidding across the ground. I got back up in pain. It felt like someone had just hit me in the face with a baseball bat. I picked up my bike in disbelief and slowly start pedalling and got back to tag Jack.

I dropped my bike and hit the bean bag by the tent.  I felt that I did a big fail. We came 2nd out of the north  Canterbury kids section.

Jam Tins

This term as part of our New Zealanders at war topic Hugh and I have researched Jam Tin Bombs. We were interested in this because we wanted to know how they developed them. We liked that they made the most of what they had around them, very clever. Kiwi Ingenuity!
