Rakahuri Rage

On Sunday  March 12th  rakahuri Rage  began. It was at The rangiora racetrack and a part of the Ashley River tracks. It was a very  hot and sunny day and i was already sweating and i hadn't even started . My team consisted of Lachlan, Jack and  I. When the race started everyone was doing a countdown, THREE…. TWO….  ONE ! and they were off!
Jack was off first then Lachlan second then me third. Jack had to do an extra two km at the start for an unknown reason, he was back in 25 minutes or so. Then lachlan went. Jack  was telling me about this exhilarating feeling of getting so much air over this jump and he made me want to do it so bad i couldn't wait much longer. Finally Lachlan got back. Then he touched my hand I took off. I was focused on doing that jump.
I flew  across the paddock  which was heading to the trees. I was going so fast that I didn't see the dip in the track, my front wheel went straight into it and the seat went straight into my crutch. Ouch! I scurried on, the pain shot through my body. Then I saw  it, the jump! I slowly picked up more and more speed and I launch myself over the jump
And when I hit the jump it felt like I was in slow motion. While I was flying through the air the bars started to twist and disaster struck as I nose dived into the hard rocky ground. Down came the bike, landing on  my body, crushing by face while I was skidding across the ground. I got back up in pain. It felt like someone had just hit me in the face with a baseball bat. I picked up my bike in disbelief and slowly start pedalling and got back to tag Jack.

I dropped my bike and hit the bean bag by the tent.  I felt that I did a big fail. We came 2nd out of the north  Canterbury kids section.

Jam Tins

This term as part of our New Zealanders at war topic Hugh and I have researched Jam Tin Bombs. We were interested in this because we wanted to know how they developed them. We liked that they made the most of what they had around them, very clever. Kiwi Ingenuity!
